These curtains by Fred Shand were hung in my studio around the new year. They were on sale here. The linen is so wonderful and they are beautifully made and fully lined. We’re digging in these days between the snow, ice and trying to hang on as one of our cats has become incredibly sick.

This drawing I made will somehow be used in a holiday gift for my nephew. He will love it. Will probably paint it on a t-shirt for him. Though I’m so into scarves worn around the front of the neck I might need to make him one of those, too.

We had a full house over the long weekend. Hope yours was happy. New bed, new vintage quilt top. Slept out on our porch and it was awesome, along with family karaoke, breaking in our first grill and dog gift necklaces for my niece and nephew. They were made from a pattern in Hillary’s new book, Wee Wonderfuls: 24 Dolls to Sew and Love. More on that awesomeness later.

These last two months have been some of the hardest for me ever. I am absolutely convinced August will be Awesome and I am so glad to finally be in our new house. My studio is almost all unpacked and I am feverishly catching up on everything. I truly wish I didn’t have to sleep so it could all get done pronto. (The cats seem to be sleeping just fine, however.)

The week before we moved, my 2TB mega-giant-save-it-all hard drive crashed from a freak lightning strike to a transformer on my block. It seems our surge protectors weren’t enough for whatever went through the line so that along with our TV, Wii and DVD player are all shot, which is just so typical of the last two months. Seriously. And while the other stuff doesn’t affect me much, losing all the files on the hard drive has been hard to accept. As soon as we get through it, it will be downright comical all the stuff that went down in June and July. All to say, it’s going to take me a minute to compile the last round of toppers I made since the last update. But they’re coming! In the meantime, we’re here and Decatur is treating us awesome so far. We’re stoked and reaching for calm. Regular updates back in action!

Recognize this fella? Our logo turned into an Easter Egg by a most brilliant customer who handmade this most handsome fella and sent it to me in a most amazing parcel ever. Many, many thanks Dana!! You rock! And speaking of handmade, SCAD is having a screening of the film Handmade Nation tonight at 8 pm at Pepe Hall. (212 W. Taylor) And then tomorrow, May 6th at 2pm they are having a panel discussion “Why One-of-a-Kind Matters” with Vanessa Bertozzi, Faythe Levine and Heather Ross. Hot diggity! And Atlanta folks, they’re doing the same in your neck o’ the woods, check out your own details on their schedule here.
