The West Elm and Etsy event was fun! My spot was right next to the sweets table, not sure how that happened but you know I didn’t complain. It was super fun meeting so many wonderful folks in person, grabbing a churros or two, downing a truffle and coming home with some crazy good printed goods for the house. They are all by Sara Lee Parker who screen prints them right here in Georgia using organic cotton. I came home with a set of napkins, tea towel and this Crepe Myrtle pillow case. Funny thing is I made them a wedding topper two years ago when we both lived different places and yet somehow our paths crossed again–I love it when things like that happen!

And look, even her price tags are screen printed awesome. Inspiring.

Coming next week! West Elm and Etsy’s “We Heart Handmade Art” at the Atlantic Station West Elm store from 6-9 on Thursday. There will be several local Etsy sellers in attendance selling their wares along with me! The show as curated by curated by Ginny Branch of My Favorite Color is Shiny so I’m super excited to be included! (Please click and check out her die cut letterpress business cards printed by the super fine folks at Greenwich Letterpress–they will knock your socks off!)

To RSVP, visit facebook.com/westelm and click on “Events.” And for my recent shows, I designed a price tag for my items. The blue is background and dollar sign I printed on small Avery labels–the kind they say can’t go through your printer but actually can through mine. The crappy thing about using them though is they don’t offer a template for them so I had to create my own which took a pretty piece. The numbers are stamped with a date stamper. An activity which had me dreaming of an old general store. One of our oldest family photographs is of our family behind their glass counter at their general store in Pennsylvania. I like to imagine it’s in the blood.

I do hope some of you can make it–stop by and say hello! It makes me crazy happy to meet people in person at these shows.

We feel like we are just now starting to know Atlanta, or at least finding the things that make us love it. This weekend, we went to Sugar-Coated Radical which is probably the best candy shop I have been to or could even imagine. If you’re local, please go. Their hours are on their Facebook page. It’s off Ponce by MJQ and down a bit then turn left on Drewery. We loaded up our hands and then had off with a pound cake and a croissant. I could barely hold it all. We were a bit insane–in the best way. (Oh wait. We also had that cookie. Geez! But dang it was good!)

We hiked the Panther Creek Trail recently.

It was pretty incredible. I realized how fortunate I was to have been afforded the opportunity and I felt so grateful.
We went during the week and saw several folks so I can only imagine that on the weekends it gets pretty busy. You pretty much follow the creek the entire way, several falls, swimming holes and some steep cliffs. It’s about 3.5 miles to the base of the falls so once you double-back it took us a few hours with a bit of lallygagging. These directions were the most helpful, albeit outdated, but still great. If you go, read the instructions in the link above but coming from Atlanta, you’ll see the brown sign on US 441 for Panther Creek Falls Recreation Area, you turn left then turn right after the next sign (just a few hundred feet). You proceed down that road maybe 1/2 mile and the Panther Creek Parking and Recreation Area will be on your left. There are restrooms at the parking lot, too. Several camping areas also along the trail. One thing to note, most of the trail is now blazed bright green. (Additional information with map here.)
