Organizing my solid color fabric and ribbons. Bins for white, ivory and lace. Stack of fabric used for the various wooden wonders. Spools of swiss dot ribbons hanging. A few weeks later, still works and still organized.

Toilet paper in the bathroom. Seriously. We live in an old house and storage is non-existent so previously, we stored the paper elsewhere. This fabric basket was picked up at Crafty Feast over the holidays. It is made by Mary Lion and is absolutely wonderful. I love not being annoyed the roll is empty. Again.

We were gifted a round soap. I wasn’t really sure what to do with it since I’m a liquid soap hand washer and half soggy soap blocks gross me out. I popped it in a round dish that it fit in all snug like and it is the single greatest thing ever. Now I can wash up my paintbrushes so quickly. A rinse, a few swirls on the soap, rinse, rinse and dry.

Finally, this one is a work in progress but it will soon be a big blessing. Envelopes with cardboard inserts for all my prints. All my prints. As I run out of the various sized plastic sleeves I used to slip my prints in they are now being shipped and retailed in vellum envelopes, with the same sticker, for all sizes. No more looking for wacky doodle plastic sleeves and trying to keep all the various sizes on-hand and in stock. Just one size for all. Nice.
In the meantime, did you know we’re on Facebook? Yes indeedy. Post photos, videos or respond to a myriad of mind-blowing questions posed to all ye FB fans. It’s a good time. Okay, so no fan has actually posted a fan video yet. But I’m waiting.

I went to Ikea in Charlotte with my mom a few weeks back and brought home more drawers. They now have two new sizes of the Alex drawer units that I was loving last year. But these two new sizes worked better in my space.

I’ve also been preparing to open up my new wedding Etsy shoppe coming soon but I thought I would show a peek at some of the supplies that are now in these drawers. These are some of the supplies I’ve collected for making the wedding bouquets that the brides hold in my wedding toppers.

I get excited just opening the drawers! Some of them are vintage stock and some of them are new items and a few of my favorite places to look for vintage stock is Papier Valise, D. Blumchen and various Etsy stores. We’re carving pumpkins tomorrow and enjoying chocolate chip pumpkin muffins and a spicy Jamaican pumpkin soup! Happy Halloween!

I added a few shelves to the sides of my desks recently. I can’t tell you how much this has helped keep a clearer work surface. I got the idea from Hillary, who has a fabulous work desk. Of course, mine was not custom made but just shelves from Ikea, but one day I imagine a custom work desk/table/sewing space with a working surface that extends all around the room. In the meantime…

And check back tomorrow for details on a super special Etsy Shop Live event hosted by Marichelle of Heart Handmade! A 25% discount will be given in my Etsy shop all-day in honor of the event (custom orders/wedding toppers excluded) AND there is a super special discount that will be available only during the actual shop live event at 7pm EST. What is a Shop Live event? Learn more here! There are 30 shops participating so there will lots of deals + discounts tomorrow from lots of awesome shops.
The Etsy Virtual Labs are so crazy cool to me. I really, really loved their broadcasting of some of the sessions from the Summit of Awesome. It’s the first time I really checked them out but it was so great with tons of good information. They also have regular events like Etsy shop critiques and other Etsy selling tips. So, if you’ve never checked them out, tomorrow is a great good time to try it out!

I think that one of my most favorite formats that Chronicle Books publishes are their Labels + Sticker Books. Really any sticker is a favorite of mine, I use them for everything. From the obvious; on packages, boxes and envelopes to just about anything else. When I got this new sticker book, “Crafty Stickers” I was so excited!

Look how awesome! There are a bunch of different sizes and types of labels in the book.

Okay, I got started making stuff with them right away. I put some on wooden discs and glued them to smaller clothespins so I could organize my wholesale invoices and orders. (Previously, I taped them to the wall. This system works a bit better.)

I put a wire in through the clothespin so it could hang from my card catalog. This makes it really easy to organize and file away once they’re out.

Then I turned to my laminator which was a Christmas gift and a new really good buddy to me. I typed up some phrases and put them on a few stickers to make Crafty Bookmarks! Now I have a stack of them to put in my craft books/magazines to remember what I wanted to go back and make.

I wrote a little diddy on it that reads: “Take a look, see how neat! Holy cow, this can’t be beat! See it here? Let’s make it now. You can do it, I know you know how!”

On this one I wrote: “Please make me this. Let’s add it to the list. I think it’s really awesome, even more so than possums.” Ha! I love writing these verses. Also, I made some “Please Return To” bag tags so in case something gets lost, it might be returned. Unless it’s stolen in which case they’ll know where all the bad karma is coming from.

I tied this one to my point + shoot camera case that I keep in my bag all the time. I just made a small slit in the zipper edging and tied it to there so it can stay nestled in the bag and not in the away.

Labels + Stickers rock! Happy Friday!!

As I’ve been using more ribbon lately, in my wedding toppers and other designs, I’ve found my collection of it to be slowly getting out of control as it continues to steadily grow in size. I buy the same thing twice, can’t ever seem to find the color I need. You know the drill. So I got them in control last night before bed. I keep many of my products and supplies in an old mail sorter which I found boxes that fit into perfectly. And now the ribbon fits in the boxes perfectly, too.

I used double-thick boards to wrap my ribbon around, but old cardboard is great, too. I cut a slit in the board so I didn’t have to tape the ribbon down, wrapped the ribbon around the board and secured the end with a tiny straight pin.

What used to be in five different places is now all together. Organization is so satisfying. And so pretty.
