The big valentine’s day is coming so we made some wax paper hearts in its honor. They are hanging in a few windows around the house.

We used to make these all the time when I was younger. You just place crayon shavings between two sheets of wax paper and melt them with a low heat iron for a second or two and then cut into heart shapes. (Be sure to place newspaper on top and underneath in case any of the crayons ooze out of the sides.)

This is a great idea. I’ve never done anything like this as a kid. I have a feeling my house is going to be overrun with wax paper shapes by the end of this weekend.

I have fond, fond memories of doing these as a preschooler. You never knew what was going to happen until that newspaper came up… it was like magic! Thank you for the memories!

I saw this on Marth Stewart’s website many moons ago and made them for my fiance for valentines day, but I couldn’t figure out a good way to hang them!
Your’s look lovely! Awesome Job!
and I love your blog! I found it through the book “Handmade Nation” that I got for Christmas!
Cheers,
Suzy
