The Felt Garland
When I visited Portland who knows how long ago now, I bought this japanese craft book at the Kinokuniya Bookstore.

The book is all felt projects and I especially fell for the garlands and envelopes in the book. The ISBN is 45791115X and can be bought from yesasia.com here. This is the garland I made:

The original had some birds in it but I opted to leave them out of mine, at least for the time being. All the reds felt very much like valentines.

The book has templates in the back that you have to enlarge which I did on my scanner. But they were then too large to print out on piece of letter sized paper so I cropped the different sections and then taped it together. It worked but made the project a little bit fussier than need be. In the end, I cut freehand the last few sections which worked out fine. It’s a no sew all cut and glue project so if you are not into the sewing, fear not.
The wool felt I bought from here (the premium wool felt in natural) and the fabric is from my scraps. To make the circular shapes, I used a craft punch in cardstock and then glued the fabric to the front and back piece before gluing them to the felt garland.

You are obviously much smarter than me! (I just made one of these and ended up hand-stitching all the little circles together.)
Seriously though, yours turned out really nice. I love all the Valentine’s Day fabrics!

I absolutely adore these mobiles! I was wondering if you could email me the name of the book so that I could order it? I live in South Africa, thus have no way of getting to Portland!:)
I'm curious about your two cents. You smart cookie!
