The Wooden Clothespin Dolls
Since beginning to make The Little Small Clothespin People more than three years ago, and after making more than 500 peeps, those crazy cool cats have evolved into some pretty elaborate sculptural pieces. I feel like I have made so many that the increasing challenge of making something new and exciting to me takes up more and more time in the studio. And with a show coming up in November, all the peeps I’ve been making are set aside for that show. But I’ve been itching to make some new pieces. Something with a new design that I haven’t done before that would allow me to start with something new all over again. And so here is the beginning of the new collection, The Wooden Clothespin Dolls.

The Clown

The Raincoat

The Geometric Dress

The Date

The Cherry Dress

And here they are all together. I’ll be putting them up in my Etsy shop soon. Update: They are now available for sale in my Etsy shop here. I will be adding more of The Wooden Clothespin People for sale every single Monday. That’s right, it’s back to weekly updates.

The clown is my favourite (though I do love them all!)
He reminds me of Charlie Chaplin :)

Holy Haute Clothespin People! You’ve broken the fashion barrier for the small folk. Absolutely, irresistable.

LOVE the hood on the raincoat; the cherry dress and geometric dresses are awfully cute as well. The menfolk are nice too, though I think that plaid print makes the date look a little hobo-ish. Just a tad. The white make-up on the clown’s face is genius.

These are so fetching. I fell in love with the clown and the date. That kind summarizes my early dating years!

These really remind me of John Held Jr’s illustrations from the 1930s. Love them!
