Mini Ring Notebooks
I made several of these little notebooks not too long ago. I carry one in my bag but I think they would be awesome party favors or stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, or any small fun gift come the holidays.

To make them, I used a piece of wood from this wood pack I bought at the local craft store. The wood pack has various sized rectangles in it but some are 1″ x 2″ which are perfect for these small notebooks. For the pages, I used paper scraps cut to size with a piece of tagboard as the backing. (I found thicker paper stock worked best.) Next, stack up all the wood, paper + backing board together and tape to secure before I drilled a hole using a drill and standard 1/8″ drill bit. I just drilled down through the whole stack at once.

The wooden covers I stamped with stamps from my collection using ink from my stamp set which works on wood, fabric, paper + more. They are held together with a 1″ book rings from the office supply store.

I even made a mini address notebook to tote around with pages I printed out from the computer with the addresses of my contacts on them.

What a great idea :o) Your little books are genius. I’ve only seen those rings used for flash cards… the address book is so clever! Take care & have a great Wednesday.

What a fantastic idea! I made a similar little notebook for my new niece with pictures of all the people in our family. It was a big hit!

Adorable!
I was wondering though, when you said teacher gifts… what would the pages have on them?

I love this! It would be so much fun on a key ring just to doodle in when you have time…a journal of sorts. I’ll be linking to this!

Tammy, I would just use blank pages. But you could also xerox or print out small Address pages that you are fill in the blank–with spaces to list name, address + phone number.

Very cute! I’m a letterboxer, and those would be absolutely perfect as log books. Thanks for sharing them :)

I am in love with everything wood! I just made an order at that wood place, and got that bag of wood to make these little things. I don’t have a drill like you have; any ideas or suggestions about what else would work?

Hm, without a drill you can definitely use a standard paper punch for the paper pages. But I couldn’t get it to go through the wood rectangle. The wood is quite thin so you might try using an exacto blade (which just sounds like a cutting disaster to me!) or picking up a small craft drill. They would go through the wood quite easy. Lastly, ask a neighbor for you, or ask Home Depot to demo their drill on your notepad. Ha! (Don’t really do that.)
I'm curious about your two cents. You smart cookie!
