I’m back from Renegade in Chicago! The weather was awful which was too bad because it rained non-stop, flooding like crazy and just general bad weather for shopping + paper products. On Saturday, I stuck it out since so many of you were so great and still showed up–even in the rain! My tent was keeping everything relatively dry so all was going well. When I returned on Sunday to even more rain, soaking wet tables, stolen wooden display and to see a fellow maker had their tent vandalized by someone throwing a chair at it which broke the metal frame–I called it a day and packed up and drove out completely soaked again. It was a bit bittersweet since last year our camera and video camera was stolen at some point on the second day, as well. And while it was completely my decision to risk having the wooden shelf stolen (which isn’t really a big deal since it was free but still–why steal what ain’t yours), the thought of someone deliberately breaking someone else’s expensive tent just sucked big time. It totally killed my spirit so when I got back to the fabulous Lang household, who were once again fabulous hosts, we sorted her fabric stash and she was kind enough to send me home with this big stack. Score!
Earlier that weekend, we did some other fabric shopping and I bought these prints which were great to see in person and some wool felt which is downright impossible to find locally.
And then I decided that after the last three craft shows, all with rainy weather (Art Star in Philadelphia, Renegade in Brooklyn and then Renegade in Chicago), it was time to get ready for a fabulously sunny craft show at Crafty Bastards in D.C. in two weeks! Plus, it’s time to send out some good energy and give away some fun here to kick off the goodness. Sharing is good.

I looked for your booth on Sunday and was disappointed not to see it. The rain did let up Sunday afternoon, but it was really soggy.
Sorry about the theft and vandalism. I suppose they need more security down there.

Stealing Sucks, Sharing is better! Rain and theft is always my fear at craft shows. we have one here every year and it rains everyyear… blue skys and then black clouds on the horizon. everyone packs up an hour or two early- but it seriously happens every year. its amazing.

Oh Sarah I am so so sorry to hear about your trip to Chicago! What is going on with all these rainy shows? I hope DC really is sunny and grand, although if the weather got really bad we are allowed to move the event indoors which is good. I cannot believe that some one stole your display–and the thrown chair!!! Was the venue completely unlocked? Was it something like Art Star where the area was fenced in and locked all night? or something else.
Anyhow I am sorry to hear all the horrible things, but very excited to get to see you again at the end of this month :)_

Stealing Sucks, sharing is better! Why are people such boobs, to take things that don’t belong to them? A few weeks ago my friend Corinne had her iPod stolen by a guy who her roommate stupidly brought home. He also stole 70 bucks from her roommate’s purse!

Stealing sucks, sharing is better! And it’s true, since I was the one that you let borrow your luggage rack to haul our tables back to our booth at Renegade. I wanted to come back and meet you and tell you how excited I was to get the chance to be your booth neighbor (because I love your work!) but we too, called it a day for Sunday. After many, many mishaps (which ended with our car being towed and being lost for two hours to find our hotel) we just decided that the show wasn’t meant to be for us. I’m super sorry your rack got stolen, and I feel so terrible for the Craftster folks! :(
