My sewing machine got cold.
I haven’t been using it as much lately, and in my absence of sewing fits I decided it needed a cover to put on. I actually made three, I was so indecisive that I kept changing my mind. This is the final winning one.

I went with my second favorite fabric of last year, this map design. I had literally just enough so I figured it was meant to be and resisted my urge to cut out yet another choice.

I cut out a matboard top that is held with elastic bands to the top of the cover. Otherwise, the top of my machine is bumpy and gets narrower on one end so when I had the cover on it, it appeared all messed up but it really was sewn straight. Went with a button lasso type thing to hold the sides together.

Now, the patch is made with the Crafty Club Iron-On transfers. I first ironed it on to a piece of light colored cotton, then zigzagged stiched it to a piece of felt making it into a patch. I couldn’t iron it directly on the map fabric because the map would show through and just using the light colored cotton was too thin that I could still see the map through it.

The first rejected sewing machine cover choice can be seen here.

I love handmade sewing room supplies - needlebooks and pincushions and, of course, sewing machine covers. That map fabric is outstanding and so in keeping with your style.

This is great, I love the fabric and the patch.
ps. glad you rejected the first one, otherwise this beauty might not have been born.

I love it so much! The button lasso is genius. (And the reject is super-cute too, btw.)

Love the cover…I’ve been meaning to make one myself for a while. Thanks for the further inspiration! I have that same tray as well…it was my grandmother’s.
I'm curious about your two cents. You smart cookie!
