Strawberries from the ground.
I got to the u-pick strawberries out at Bamboo Farms and Coastal Gardens earlier last week. Over the weekend, my mom and I made some strawberry ice cream, so stinkin’ good, and yesterday I made some Double Chocolate Dipped Strawberries + Dirt in honor of Earth Day.

The “dirt” part is chocolate semi-sweet morsels that I processed a few times in my food processor. I dipped them in dark chocolate and then into the semi-sweet dirt. I also added a 1/2 teaspoon vegetable shortening to the dark chocolate I melted, which is certainly not necessary, but it added a crunch once the chocolate set up that is so bad and yet so good. The idea is loosely based on Epicurious’ recipe here.

Yum. Ridiculously good. So ridiculous. So good.

Yum! I’m a vegan, so I could definitely make these (which I will!)
