The baking has begun.
I was a little late going this year but now I’m into it. We have our big extended family Christmas Eve (thereabouts) this weekend so no time to waste. This year, we added gingerbread cookies to our spread. This is how I decorated them (even though I hate raisins in baked items)

I love how some looked fierce + upset. It’s my mother’s old cookie cutter and it seems to be wearing a hat. Huh? Why I know not. However, the aunt in me couldn’t resist buying the bottled up icing and red hots for some deliciously sugar gross men, too.

Now for the neighbors and to send home with family folk this weekend, I made some homemade marshmallows. The plan is to give it away with some mixed up hot chocolate mix in another bag.

Yum. The very first ever homemade marshmallow I had was at Back in the Day Bakery in Savannah, GA and they’re so much better. They were on Food Network and made them and it seemed too easy to not try. Grab a candy thermometer and you’re set. (Again went with Martha’s recipe.)

We used to do our gingerbread people with currants, which are a little smaller than raisin. We’ve since switched to hard decorator’s icing, but I sometimes miss the currant ones. Yours are cute!

Your marshmallows look yummy! What lucky friends! I would love to try your cool packaging. Will you share what font you used? Or better yet any chance you might share your label for download? Thanks for the great ideas!!! Happy Holidays!

I’ll have to try the marshmallows. They look fantastic. My problem is that I already have too many ideas, and not enough time to do them. I added limoncello to my gift goodies, along with a cranberry almond biscotti.
