My new friend.
My mom had given me her original wedding ring about a year ago and a few months ago I lost it. I don’t know how, I don’t know where but I was so incredibly sad, I was pretty unfunctional for a week while I tore apart the house, hoped my brain would suddenly recall where I put it. But it’s still gone. I know it’s just a ring but it wasn’t to me.
This after I had thrown away my birthstone ring when I was 13 after carving a pumpkin. It was a gift from my godmother and I cried for weeks after that. I had dreams of going to the recycling plant and searching through all the old newspapers still I found it.
So you can bet this ring will be glued to my finger, stay always in my sight and guarded like it holds the key to the door of all things wonderful + good.

It’s so amazing on, it feels so great, it’s amazing. Made by Allyson Ross. And it’s so comfortable and I’m so in love.

Aw. If it’s any consolation, I also have a list of precious rings lost, including the emerald ring my stepfather got me the day he married my mother. It felt like I had lost my personal history. Your new ring is a delight, though! I hope you continue to enjoy it!

That’s a lovely ring!
I am sorry about the other rings. I lost a ruby from a ring my grandmother had given to me, two days before she died, because I smacked my hand against a an airplane bulkhead while deboarding. I didn’t even realize the stone was gone until I was three terminals away (in Atlanta) and glanced down at my hand to see an empty setting. I, too, was heartbroken.

hate to be repetitive, but I am a long time lurker of your little steno pad and wanted to also offer my consolations and tell you how beuatiful your new ring is! My mother, married 20 years, threw away both her wedding and engament ring while making a coffee cake 4 or 5 months ago. She was heart broken and though she has looked, she still hasn’t been able to find an adequate replacement. She currently wears an old cocktail ring of her grandmothers. Anyway, just wanted to share.

i’m sorry to hear about the rings you lost. i know the feeling : (
i don’t want to give you false hope, but i lost my grandmother’s engagement ring when i was 14 (i blamed my parents for letting me have it that young!) and i found it 9 years later! it was unbelievable.

yes i too lost a very beautiful turquoise ring i found at an estate sale, so it didnt have sentimental value to me but it was so wonderful. i ransacked my house and could not find it.it just disappeared. on a happy note, i recently found another turquoise ring that i had forgotten i had so i guess in some small way that make up for the other ring. anyway, i liked your story and i like your blog.
oo,
vicki

I lost my wedding ring over a year ago (we think the resident toddler got “helpful”, she was going through a throw it in the trash phase) I still get upset…
That is a great replacement though…I think I’d be tempted to tie a string on just in case.

I have a lost ring story with a happy ending! I recieved a birthstone ring for my eighth grade promotion. It went missing somehow and I don’t think that I even noticed it was gone until my mom stuck her hand in the dryer to pull out some clothes and brought it out with the ring on her pinky finger! It was amazing.
I hope that new ring is a bit of consolation for the lost ones…I am entirely enamoured with it. I love love love sweet little birds!
