Paper chains
Garland is still soaking through me. This weekend, while searching for an affordable wooden chest of drawers for my fabric, I came across this gem. It’s a ring made from folded paper cigarette wrappers. The impulse to make this astounds me. Though I’m equally perplexed as to its purpose. So far I figure a glass ashtray may have fit on top of it but for me its just wonderfully beautiful hanging out like so…

If I chewed gum, I might consider a paper chain like this. That would be really cool draped around a window. I love how it’s so elementary school playground knowledge swapping while the colors/shape/construction are still so appealing to me now.

Hmm…I might just need to pick up a chewing gum habit. (I’m definitely much more a mint kind of girl though.)

it’s fun to make paper chains like the gum wrapper from starburst wrappers. there’s so many colors to choose from, the end result is so pretty!

i love that! the colors, the shape, the pattern. marvelous.
i am very fond of tramp art.
i have a very, very long gum wrapper chain i made in grade school, or the “joint”, as hillary calls it.
i should blog about it.

hey sarah you dont have to use gum wrappers to make the chains, you can use anything as long as they are rectangles of paper. I used to cut origami paper and make the chains, but ive even made larger sized ones out of normal sized chapter book pages. They fold up perfectly. We use the large chains to decorate our xmas tree each year.
