A Steno Pad for My Thoughts
Blah, Blah, Blah. Connect the dots. This blog is now an archive only. No new entries will be posted, please visit our new blog here.Oscar, Charlie and Chloe

I found this half-written post which originally was talking about fall being in the air, but really this is all about our cats. Who am I kidding… we’re crazy cat people. I am actually to blame for making her into a crazy cat person but I think we’re equal now.

After I catch up on wedding topper orders, we’re heading to the Grand Canyon and Santa Fe on a road trip. Anything you feel like we must see?

Goodness, I’m not even a cat person and I love these photos! That being said, I came over by way of your etsy store and my cart is full. Holy smokes, woman, you are creative! :-)
You’ll see my order coming through soon. Just wanted to say hi!
Wishing you every success (or at least until Niagara Falls),
D

Try to route yourself through the Painted Desert. It’s been many years since I was out that way but we were fascinated. Don’t know if the Hubbell Trading Post is still there but it really gave a flavor of the past.
Your pix once again make me said that I’m allergic to cats. *sigh*

I remember the Horseman’s Haven made some pretty awesome green chile burgers in Santa Fe. I say it’s worth a stop for lunch!

Oh my lord, that last photo cracked me up. That is a very familiar face. My parents’ little siamese gets the same look when she’s on a tear. LOL
Enjoy the trip! I have family in Los Alamos - they volunteer as guides at Bandolier National Monument. It’s beautiful country and worth checking out.

I’m not even a cat person but I have to say if this space turned into a blog entirely made up of photos of your cats I would still keep you in my Google Reader!

So funny with the names. Our kid’s name in utero (and on the blog) is Oscar but his real name is Charlie. If his sister was Chloe rather than Paige we’d have your cat family in kids. Sort of. Ok, it seemed funnier before I typed it :)

It’s not really on your way, but I think everyone should visit Arches and Canyonlands National Parks in Utah. It really gives you the sense of what a tiny piece of the universe we each are.

I lived in Santa Fe for 5 years. It’s so lovely. I recommend the huevos rancheros at Counter Culture (cafe), the super-yum French pastries at Clafoutis (owned and operated by authentically French people–I sorely miss this place), and excellent coffee at Ohori’s. Maria’s was my favorite New Mexican restaurant. There are loads of great food spots though. For good sights, if there hasn’t been a frost, you might catch the aspens turning gold, which is incredible. That’s up Artists Road toward the ski hill (a very picturesque drive anyway). Also along that road is a wonderful Japanese spa called 10,000 waves. All the locals love it. Hot tubs under the trees… so pretty. Good hiking trails up and down that road, which winds up through the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Most people suggest walking Canyon Road. A must-see spot, though not every gallery is worth stepping into unless you LOVE cowboy and sunset paintings. Barbed wire. Cactus. Etc. There are some galleries with inspiring art too though. I dunno. I guess that’s a start! The Bandelier suggestion above is excellent. Have fun!!! October is my most favorite month in Santa Fe. Green chile roasting season!

If you can -stay in Williams, just south of the GC, and ride the train up it is the best way to get in and out of the park. Williams is on historic Rt. 66 with lots of retro charm. Stay in one of the small, family owned motels and you will think you stepped back into the 50’s! My best friend and I took a road trip from LA back home to Nashville in the summer….the RR to the GC and Pink Jeep tour in Sedona were the best! There is also the Georgia O’Keefe museum in Santa Fe.

Hi Sarah! We are on the ultimate 4 month cross country road trip and about to head into that same area, so these comments have been really informative. If you have time, the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque is one of the premier lithography studios in the country. They have a free tour November 4th and I am trying to get there in time They also have a gallery open M-F
