The Cat Food Mat
Cats don’t really need a cat mat, at least my cats aren’t terribly messy. But still I felt the need to make a mat. I just got in some super great fabric stamp pads that I’ll be adding to the shop in a new stamp kit sometime soon so in the meantime, I’ve been dreaming of projects to make. First up, a sewn grid with stamps from The Small Object staggered about. Perfect.

And with the food, I love it.

I opted not to iron on that vinyl stuff you can get cause I figured my cats aren’t really that messy, and after you heat set the fabric ink you’re good to go so I just let it be. I can throw it in the wash when it gets gross.

To make it I just drew on gridlines with a ruler, one inch apart and then used a small zigzag stitch along the lines. After which I stamped in some of the squares with my stamps, well and an “A” from another stamp set I have.

The quilting was done just beside the vertical grid lines. Awesome. The cats dig it.

That is so lovely! It reminds me a little of a 1970’s Hello Kitty design I’ve seen. I like how you left lots of squares empty.
