A Steno Pad for My Thoughts

The Halloween and Fall Fun Time decorations continue are back on my brain big. And I’m back from Chicago! Crafty Bastards was awesome, amazingly well organized and a huge turnout. Things were so busy I didn’t get to walk around and didn’t take one picture so hence the quick movement on to Halloween decorations. This one is made with magnolia tree leaves which are a plenty in Savannah.

I painted the green side with white acrylic paint and, once dry, cut out a face on the top half of each leaf using a paring knife. However, for added interest I did not fully remove the mouth piece from the leaves. I made a circular form with two cross pieces using silver wire and attached each leaf to the form using twine.

Magnolia leaves are brown on the underside so this mobile looks creepy cool hanging from a doorway where you can see the brown undersides along with the contrasting white fronts.

I saw in the new Martha Halloween where she dipped the leaves in wax to keep them fresh for the whole season! I thought that was a great idea!!!! These are SO cute!
