Oh the stuff to stamp…

May 9th, 2006

After I get this sewing machine cover done, I’ve got three more things on the list.  A couple weeks ago, I received the most wonderful out of the blue package from the most generous Jessica Manack from Miss Chief Productions. (Check out the gift tags–I have already used up all of mine. Love a gift tag!)

Here are some ideas from this amazing book (ISBN 4-277-43065-1) which means I need to shake a tail feather and get cutting.

One can never be too organized.

So I’m not so into the images on these but I like the idea of stamping up a set of fabric coasters or cocktail napkins.

And stamping on a cup…how does happen, someone help us out here.  I imagine it’s kind of like making decals but is this true….do we think they really stamped it using glaze and then fired it up? If so, a trip to my local paint your own pottery place is in order…but it seems the glaze would be too thin for this to really work. Help me out here folks. How does one do this? At the end of the book is about 8 pages of patterns which is cool to look at, I’ve been eyeing this thing in secret.  It’s time to come clean.

The peep from this morning (did anyone on the peep update this get the email announcement?)

No. 373 Paper Shredder
Available here.

i know that there are plenty of people out there who use StazOn ink pads to stamp on glass, wood, metal and all kinds of other things, i dont see why it wouldnt work on ceramics. the only thing is that it is pretty nasty, by nasty i mean toxic, and requires a special solvent cleaner for the stamps. it also takes a crazy long time to dry. so i guess this isnt so much of a help as a deterant maybe? sorry…

I bought this book when I was in Tokyo, last year. Everytime I need a little bit of inspiration, I just open it and BOOM! There it is. I love the fox and the bear fighting over the rabbit. I love the quizical rabbit. Hell, i just love the rabbits.

    Hi Sarah,

I missed the peeps sign up, but would LOVE to receive them.

    O.K.. IDEAS ***

    * STAZ ON works well- BUT HAND WASH the OBJECTS to avoid fading

    * THere are numerous CERAMIC * GLASS paints

available at Your craft store or online.

if you get an EMPTY STAMP PAD, then saturate it

with one of these it would be EASIER application.
    * I would try a SMALL PAD first , in case the experiment fails you wont lose much product.

    * I Have SEVERAL glass and ceramic ” paint and bake ” paints left from a few years ago I would be happy to SNAIL MAIL you Just let me know!

    I adore these ideas =)

Sweet girl, you are such a wealth of *creative goodness* and thank you for the link to Miss Chief Productions. I need a whole bunch of “Chaste Makes Waste” cards… I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

I second the entire line of Pebeo paints - I’ve had great luck on both china and glass:

for my sister’s wedding napkins i had to rubber-stamp over a hundred green and yellow napkins with a sunflower stamp. it didn’t look too bad. i think it could be nicely re-interpreted.

i work w/a japanese woman and she’s interpreted japanese directions for me……maybe you could send a page from the book to me somehow and she could figure it out?

    Hey there from sunny Australia!
I have stamped on to ceramic and glass before by using Pebeo ceramic paints and then “cooking” the cup , glass or whatever, in the oven for the required time. Comes out great. I wouldn’t put the item in the dishwasher because the image will last longer that way.
    All the best.
