Hello! You are reading pearls of wisdom and rick-rackery by run-on sentence maker Sarah Neuburger who runs this online shop called The Small Object. The Small Object actually began oh-a-way-back-when in 2004 and is run by me, just the one lady train and is the place where I sell the stuff I make + design. I currently live in Atlanta, GA and am trying to get used to this new place.
Now, what you are reading is The Steno Pad which is the blog for The Small Object. The Steno Pad is essentially a great word for an otherwise very guttural word also known as a blog. You are welcome to use photos on your blog/website if you credit and link back to The Small Object and you don't have to ask first. Just credit me and we're good to go. I also try to answer all questions back at the original post. Read even more about this steno pad here. Below are links to various podcasts and answers to things you might now be thinking.
For all those happy couples out there, why not top your cake or cupcake tier with a glowing beam of two happy smiling faces! Yes! That's one happy piece of sweet goodness. The best part, they are a wonderful keepsake to keep for all the years thereafter.
Sharing is good. Here are a few things you can download and print out as often as you like until your heart's content and you never have to pay me a dime. Seriously, it's all free. Just scroll down on the link below to find the one you want.
These are the things you folks seemed to really get a kick out of making and doing. For all you folks who are just joining us, here's the best of what you missed in the step-by-step and holiday category (bottom of the list). Hop on board!
You can shop our products through this website by clicking on "products" at the top of this page (underneath the photo of the walnut hearts). Orders are accepted for both international and domestic purchases. If you prefer, you can also shop online through our Etsy shop! The choice is yours! Though, to see the complete collection, click here, because I don't have everything listed over at Etsy.
People can say very nice things about us and it makes me most happy. Sometimes, they even include us in their books. You can view the list of all the major mentions (click here), cause that makes me even happier. :) The list includes links to download Adobe pdf versions of the articles. You can also find most of the online mentions by searching for "press" (click here). I try to make it comprehensive but frankly, sometimes I miss a mention or two, or three or four. Who knows. I try.
These past few weeks have been challenging but we’re all good. A hummingbird cake in honor of an amazing person who recently passed unexpectedly. She was an incredibly wonderful person who I’m sure is in a better place.
A shirt made in honor of a week with my nephew.
Even though it’s been a bit difficult, we’re still extremely blessed. A few wedding toppers to get caught up on and then I’ll be posting some of the new stuff I brought to Renegade. And to anyone who may have come to Renegade a few weeks back and we were gone, my apologies we had to pack up early. My car was broken into so with the possibility of a rain storm coming we had to get out of the park early and into a cab before it came. We did! But I hope we didn’t miss anyone.
Some progress has been made but I think in the end, I just like how the wrapped sticks look better. So, a wrapped stick, too. This project moves fast but it’s been sidelined for the past few.
It’s a flurry inside, so much happening. Lots of new things I can’t wait to share and lots of inventory building.
Housewarming Gift Set, to turn the key, to hold the treasures and to celebrate its many blessings–a keychain, a wooden box and a beeswax candle to sit in a handpainted house. Packaged in a gift can which must be opened with a can opener.
Matchstick Men for some type of birthday greeting, need to finalize the packaging. Clay heads, beeswax dipped “flame” hats and faces individually stamped.
Pegs for an artwork display kit with string and pegs for hanging photos/pictures/artwork. Hand painted, hand drawn faces and suede blue bows.
All coming with me to Renegade in Brooklyn at the end of next week. Time to keep cracking.
I saw this post on Faythe Levine’s blog and it keeps resurfacing in my head, for many reasons. One of which was the image of the Ojo de Dios at the bottom. I love the simplicity of the weaving and was freaking out a bit by how large it was. I wanted to do something for this year’s craft show tent and kept coming back to the idea of this. I’m ready. I made a few small ones to see how it worked and now have yarn to get started bigger.
Two new poster designs are at the printers and will debut at Renegade in about two weeks. There will be a ton of new stuff for sale at Renegade that still isn’t on the site since I just can’t seem to find the time so if you’re in the NYC area the first week of June, please come by!
Neighbors and Strangers Poster
A poster of various folks with a short blip at the bottom about people we will meet and the potential of those encounters.
The Pencil Poster
A poster with drawn pencils sporting various personalized from the “I like to draw. I am awesome.” pencil to “Connect your own dots.”
(Is it killing you the images are so small? A bit larger here and here. They are both bring printed at 11″ x 17″ and I can barely wait.)
A ukulele with two strings. Made for a wedding topper. Miniatures are too fun. Made using thread, wood veneer business cards, popsicle stick, cardstock, small dowel and sewing pins. Stained in light oak with maple neck.
